This bizarre futuristic Pod City was built along the north coast of Taiwan by the Taiwanese government in the 1980s. San Zhi was supposed to be a luxurious vacation retreat for wealthy city dwellers looking to escape nearby Taipei. The resort was to include a dam to protect it against sea surges, floors and stairs made out of marble, even a small amusement park for children.
However, a series of mysterious fatal accidents occurred during construction. And as word spread, no one wanted to go to San Zhi, and the project was halted. According to local superstition, the ghosts of those who have died are said to linger, unremembered and unable to pass on.
